Dwayne's European Tour

It is very compact in Florence, so you hear everything. Also, our place doesn't have curtains, so it's pretty bright in the morning. Needless to say, it wasn't much of a sleep in day but we still took our time getting ready.

Our goal was to find Segways for us to ride. We searched high and low and we were unable to find any place to rent them. Even though we were skeptical that Abby would be allowed. So we settled on renting some bikes. We hadn't ridden in a while and the bikes were not like the style we were used to riding, so it took a few minutes to get used to riding again. To get some energy we stopped at a great gelato place

Florence

It is very compact in Florence, so you hear everything. Also, our place doesn't have curtains, so it's pretty bright in the morning. Needless to say, it wasn't much of a sleep in day but we still took our time getting ready.

Our goal was to find Segways for us to ride. We searched high and low and we were unable to find any place to rent them. Even though we were skeptical that Abby would be allowed. So we settled on renting some bikes. We hadn't ridden in a while and the bikes were not like the style we were used to riding, so it took a few minutes to get used to riding again. To get some energy we stopped at a great gelato place

that serves gelato popsicles that are amazing. We then maneuvered through the heavy traffic of people until we came to a bike path.

We followed the bike path up a long, gradual hill. We had to take a few breaks as we are out of shape. But when we made the top it was totally worth it. We rolled into Piazzale Michelangelo and the views of Florence were spectacular. The Duomo really stood and it was cool to see all the bridges that crossed the Arno river.

We were getting hungry, so after some disagreements, we made back down the hill, where we found some lunch. We then started off towards a very large and shady park. After a leisurely ride through the park, we headed towards one of the top recommended places for gelato. So after our second gelato of the day, we returned our bikes. 5 hours of biking for on 28 Euro....not too bad.

The kids did not want to go out again, so Jen and I got another date night. We didn't try to hard to make them want to come ;) Tonigh we had one of our more delicious meals in Italy, just down the street from our place. Then we walked through the narrow streets and wide-open piazzas, and watched the sun set from one of the bridges near our place.
