#TheDay

Wellington, 07.02.2018

The day had been something I had been dreading. My last day on tour! We nicknamed it the day as it was too painful to discuss. I was pleased that I would at least get one more night at the hostel with everyone before they left me early the next day!

#theday began by visiting the museum. Marc and Enya had added to their mountains with Marc and now had sharks with Marc too so when we found the sea life section of the museum they were both excited to get a photo with the sharks. We ambled through looking at the various objects on display. One part had a to scale blue whale’s heart that you could climb inside of, so Enya and I slithered in the tunnel and watched the whale film that was playing inside. Unfortunately a tiny child wanted to come in and I knew it was unsafe to allow children near Enya the Demon so I got her out quickly!

We also went in a small house that simulated an earth quake, by that I mean it wobbled fairly gently from side to side! There were a lot of elderly folk about so I suppose it needed to be geriatric proof!

The museum is near the waters edge so we grabbed coffees and hot chocolates and sat in the sunshine to enjoy them.

Our last stop before rejoining the tour was to the shark wall. This was Enya's favourite spot in Wellington and we all enjoyed looking at the various sharks painted on the wall. We took a cheesy instagram worthy pic and then left for the hostel.

After lunch we headed on a city tour stopping at Mount Victoria, the Weta studios and the botanical gardens. The Weta studios were pretty cool with all the Lord Of The Rings statues outside. I got a boomerang of Dennis picking a trolls nose and one of me eating Gollum’s fish. Then they showed us a documentary about how they contributed to the special effects for films like TLOTR and avatar.

The gardens were pretty but we all were quite tired so didn’t spend long there and moved quickly back towards the hostel. Grainne got back from her town stop and the three of us (Enya, Grainne and I) sat chatting in our room and playing a game of would you rather! We decided we needed some Westlife in our lives so we played their greatest hits on full volume! Marc secretly started to film us and was

nearly taken out by Grainne throwing stuff, at him her aim perfectly knocking his phone to the floor while she shouted expletives that are not diary approved! And then we headed out for my wake!

I expected more tears if I’m honest but was pleased that a few people came out to join us despite having an early start the next day. I had had the best time and a lot of it was down to the people I shared my adventure with! I was gutted to say goodbye to them all but love that I’ve got a few more friends around the world to see in the future! I have laughed more, joked more and sung more over this week than in a really long time!
Love you Haka fam!
