We started our day by visiting a beautiful lookout point at Wineglass Bay. Named for a sad reason unfortunately as it was back when whaling was popular, they would trap the poor whales in the bay and their blood made the water run red thus looking like a red wine glass. Now thoroughly depressed by that fact, we headed up the hill. I was both surprised and pleased to find that after so much walking, my legs still worked. Hundreds of steps towered above me and I just sighed; exasperated by it all.
I walked with Julia, Jack and Iris, chatting away to distract us from our various aches and pains (although Julia, being only 19, probably didn't have any!) I was last up the hill again and seriously questioning how I had become so unfit over the last few years and then remembering it's because I spend most of my days binge-watching Netflix shows and eating cake! Sigh!
The walk was shorter than expected - now used to the heights of Everest, so I was relieved that I had reached the top without having a heart attack.

Wineglass Bay
We took our photos posing accordingly and trying to not have a bunch of strangers photo bombing our pictures, then we
headed to the beach.
Some people went in the water, I did not! It was freezing and I was wearing jeans...no thank you! Being old, Iris and I sat together in the sand, eating our lunch and despairing at how cold the young ones must be and how much they would regret it once they got out. (They didn't! In fact, Julia got a really nice pattern on her jeans from the salt which just made her look more fashionable.)
Somehow Iris and I ended up near the front on the last walk back..(Oh no, I remember why now, Jack said if we were late back we would miss the wine farm!) and ended up on our own for most of the track. It was great to get to know her more and discuss the problems of being a nearing 30 year old. Apart from my short stint in Queenstown, it was the first trip where I noticed a bit of an age gap between myself and my fellow travellers so it was nice to find out that Iris felt the same and that we still found each other interesting and fun!
As an aside, I was heavily mocked when calling it a wine farm, "Hahaha!" Jack said, "Do they grow little wine bottles from trees."
Well...sort of actually! The guy doing the wine tasting looked fresh out
of school and clearly had no idea about any of the wines he was showing us. Having gathered some pretentious wine knowledge and knowing how to fudge it so it looks like you're an expert (just slyly read the descriptions on the sheet), I commented on the pear. But then something incredible happened...I actually could taste the pear! I wasn't lying! Mainly because it really tasted like pear cider but it was a proud moment!
Apparently we went to a historic town called Ross (don't expect me to remember activities post wine tasting!) but I have no recollection of this. We finally got back to Hobart and went out for a few drinks, this too I can't remember but that was mostly due to alcohol consumption...oooppppsssyy! Tasmania really does have great wines!!
