#Factor50

Feeling refreshed, I went to the travel desk at the hostel. The rain had calmed but it definitely wasn't beach weather. I booked myself onto a trip to Nimbin - a small hippy village that people go to, to eat 'special cookies' and look at the unique little shops that are full of bright coloured fabrics and trinkets.

Ever since being a small child I have had a problem with gift shops. I had to have a word with myself when I realised I would have no use for an elephant shaped rock, a hat with fake dreads and a knitted bikini, so I slowly put my purse away and backed out the shop before I could buy anything.

Once we had explored the village we were taken to a dam for a BBQ. The walk was short but slippy and I lost my flip flops at least 10 times trying to climb up the hill. The dam was really beautiful as little Lilly pads sat in rows across the water with pretty purple flowers poking up between them.

Whilst we were sitting chatting and waiting for our lunch, the guide called us over to show us something he had seen in the grass. A huge, black python lay curled in a ball right beside the footpath! A snake! I was excited to see my first snake in the wild in Australia and took a few snaps.

After lunch, I forgot that a huge python was chilling by the path so when I went to rinse my plate I jumped out of my skin when out of the corner of my eye, I could see that it was about 30cm from my foot!

One last stop was a waterfall. Because they hadn't had much rain the water capacity was quite low but the view was still just as beautiful. It reminded me of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (a tv show in the U.K filmed in Australia) because it looked just like the opening credits when they pan over the rainforest.

We were well above the canopies of the trees and we could see for miles across the vast rainforest. To add to the dramatic picture, the clouds created a mist across the red cliff walls and the sound of the waterfall echoed loudly as it hit the earth meters below. The only thing ruining it was someone constantly whingeing about a plastic bottle they could see on the cliff - if you're that bothered climb over the cliff and go and get it!
