6am, we hear those dreaded words "wake up everyone!" Despite the puddle of water in my bed, I slept so well! I sprung out of bed and went to make myself a peanut butter and jam sandwich and a cup of tea.
The weather from the previous night had since departed leaving just a few tell tale clouds to remind us that it had been there.
On deck we got to see where we had been parked up for the night. Boats bobbed peacefully in the clear water as grumpy, sleepy faces started to emerge from our boat. Whitehaven time! The weather was perfect, the sea calm and still. 7 of us piled into the little speedboat and it whizzed off into the distance to a small stony beach.
Once everyone had hopped off and the others joined us, we headed through some forest land to find Whitehaven.
It's hard to describe Whitehaven in words. My best try would be to imagine a page of watercolour, different blues and whites all blended together in different pockets and patterns. The sand, the colour and feel of talcum powder, the water so pure it literally sparkles in the sun.
We were told tales of the silica from the beach. It has many powers including exfoliating skin, jewellery cleaning and you can even brush your teeth with the grains. The beach is made up of 97% pure silica and it is illegal to remove it and anything from the beach.
Because we had woken up so early, we were the first ones to the beach so we took advantage of the freedom to get photos without random strangers photobombing!
Once we had exhausted all the camera angles we went for a dip. The water was cold but felt good as it cooled us from the burning sun. Two sting rays swam past us, gracefully wading through the water, we followed them for a short while and saw a further 3 rays swimming in a row with each other side by side.
One of the Polish girls Diana decided that she wanted to pretend to be buried on the beach and had made a wooden cross to be placed above her head. As morbid as it was, we all enjoyed piling sand on top of her and decided she looked better as a mermaid so we carved her a tail and some sand boobs.
We finished off our morning back where we started at the lookout, if we were impressed by the view this morning it had nothing on what it looked like once the tide had come in. The blues and whites blending together in a perfect balance, the sand shone white in the distance with mountains piled high above it. Absolute paradise!
