Chilly start to the day. Damn cold start to the day.

Voted to have breakfast in the hotel. This meant, cereal, eggs and bacon! Almost home cooking. Pastries to be had but none consumed. Trend broken or at least on hold.

Decided to go to Coburg for the day because it has an excellent fortress or veste and is only 23 mins away by train. (On the card)

As you would expect there is a fair amount of reference to him around the town.

Coburg is a lovely place, extremely picturesque and surely a contender in the German Tidy Town competition. The old town is a terrific mix of medieval and renaissance architecture, with a couple of real modern shockers on the outskirts.

Talk about the Block.

Martin Luther stayed here in1535 and finished of his Bible translation in his spare time. There is a little Luther room to commemorate.

Lunch in the main square, bratwurst on a roll and Bernadette recovering from calorie overdose of the day before topped up with hand cut hot fried chips and chilly tomato sauce.

Back to Bamberg by a few delayed trains and after 12.5 kms had beer, wine and brezels (pretzels) for dinner. Too tired to even look for a restaurant even if it was just down stairs.

Slept soundly till about 1230 when picture above the bed fell off! Luckily it got stuck on the bed head not us and back off to sleep within 1 minute.
Exciting nightlife in Bamberg.
