Europe 2023

Weather 8-23.
What a day, weather stays excellent, tee shirts all around.
Early coffee not at a bakery. Met cafe owner (I’m from Turkey but not Turkish) who in impeccable English said “No problem” to a flat white, single shot.

No pastries for us. Had kutchen, which is a cake usually eaten with coffee and in this case blueberry.
Image below gives some indication of what Mark will look .ike in the end.

After some challenges with just a data plan for Bern we had a trip to the Telecom store where a most pleasant and efficient young man signed her up for a German phone number and enough data for her to watch Dune in 4K as many times as she wants. Also means she can now get lost and have some hope of getting herself home.

Her geodyslexia has been on display a few times to date. Though she doesn’t write the address on her wrist.

As most museums are closed on a Monday decided to visit the Spielzeugmuseum (Toy museum) which is in the clock tower of the old town hall. Why wouldn’t you? Take the elevator to the fifth floor and walk down winding staircase visiting rooms on the way.
Fabulous collection of old toys ranging from the Iron Age to the 20th century.

Found the Asm Church, built by 2 brothers in 1173 as a private chapel. They could see the altar from a window in their adjoining house. Most convenient and no collection plate. It is completely over the top and the word ‘flamboyant” often used to describe it is an understatement.

Usual crowds around Marienplatz as most tours start or finish here. Lots of accents and movement.

Visited the Virtualienmarkt where they have been selling fresh produce for over 200 years. Seems an even split between pork and vegetables. The fish restaurant serves grilled fish and boiled carrots and potatoes. An acquired taste.

Off to Michaela”s for lunch, coffee and conversation and an early night.

All that schossing the day before was catching up.
