Europe 2023

Weather 7-21.

Not really an early start.
We’d not realised that daylight saving had finished during the morning so had an extra hour of sleep. Yippee!

Met Mick and Sean for coffee in their own neighbourhood. We had not realised that they had lived on what is pretty well Munichs only hill. The fact that the place is so flat does lend it to biking. That and terrific infrastructure means that a bike is a real option to a car.

Very pleasant cafe that sold FLAT white ( their capitalisation). Although they were so busy the barista was heard to say “we are to busy to make tea!”. That’s what I’d call coffe focused.

Walk around the local area until lunch with a good friend of Mick and Sean’s and a work colleague of Sean’s, Fred.

We did do a quick cemetery tour while Sean was helping Fred move parts of a bed. Don’t ask.
A beautiful little space the Haidhauser Friedhof was immaculately maintained with lots of new plantings an a small memorial to epidemics, now including Covid.

Fred was a most engaging and very likeable chap who suffered our interrogations around life and the meaning of everything in Germany

with good grace.

Excellent lunch, good conversation followed by strudel for some and a waddle home.
Excellent weather, excellent day.
