Day 2 Munich

Happy to report that both we and our bags arrived in Frankfurt.
Really good flights with Malaysian and Oman Air. Just long with stops in Kuala Lumpur and Muscat. Points to
anyone who knew Muscat was anything other than a grape.
The airport in Muscat is beautiful, if you say that about an airport.
Built in 1973 it’s clean, modern, has more marble than a quarry, covers 25sq kilometres and in no way bears no resemblance to Mascot.

Arrived in Frankfurt with 2 hrs to get through airport to catch train to

Munich.

Immigration was a circus with people , shuttle to train station was full of young chinese girls with bags that were bigger than they were so of course it took two people to get them on to bus.

Time is ticking, very energetic walk to station, five minutes 'till train arrives, choice of 2 stairs and we went down the ones that took us to the wrong end.
400 metre walk to other end of platform. These are very long trains.
Fortunately Deutsch Bahn were 14 minutes late and we were on time.
Only 3hrs to Munich with a breakdown in Stuttgart. Train also reverses direction so there was a moment of mild panic.
Neither of us really cared by this time as travel dementia had set in.
Made to Munich to be met by Michaela and Sean and a German public holiday and last day of Octoberfest.
No one in the city had stayed at home.

Staying in “Stylish apartment in a cool neighbourhood.” according to AirBnB.

It lived up to the publicity. Very comfortable and the three flight of stairs are just the exercise we need.

Quick trip to Octoberfest which was only a couple of blocks away.
Every Easter show you have been to all held at the same time.
Had a hangover just walking around. Bavarian costume worn by young and old and a fabulous atmosphere. We feared for our child so we're not sure how the many families with young kids fared.

Starting to flag by late afternoon so back home for the day.
