Leaving Phi Phi was a sad affair, I had had such a wonderful time there. The ferry back to Phuket rocked wildly in the waves causing water to crash over the side and drench me in the process!
When I arrived, it wasn’t long before James returned back from his tour. For the first time in history I was more tanned than him. I wasted no time in telling him this! Our hostel was awesome, unfortunately they housed children too but this meant they had a slide and a play area.
We attempted the slide that ran from the first floor to the ground. I got stuck on the first turn and ended up shuffling my way down until I emerged on the other end feeling rather pleased with myself. James complained that it was for children but played on it anyway.
We attempted to be grown ups by venturing out to find food. All along the way we were being called and hassled.
“You want massage?”
“You want boat?”
“You want sea food?”
James was not yet accustomed to the Thai people’s ways and politely engaged with each one to decline their offers. One of my favourite things was watching him

One of my favourite things was watching him
ask complicated questions while the locals looked to their colleagues with a mixture of confusion and fright.
We enjoyed our dinner and ate till we both felt a bit sick. Just as the waitress came to collect our plates James blurted out, “I feel sick now!” Then realised it sounded like the food was gross, “Oh no! No! Not because of the food! I ate to much!” The waitress clearly couldn’t understand any of his ramblings and looked equally confused and frightened as he desperately tried to dig himself out his hole.
We thought we’d check out the famous Bangla road. It was still early so I don’t think we got the full experience but it was enough to get the picture of what goes on on that seedy street! The famous ping pong shows are the main feature and after every few steps there’s a new ping pong show salesman waiting to pounce with his board detailing the acts for the evening.
The items and objects these ladies are willing to fire out of their foofs is unbelievable and not in a good way! It starts light and fun with a gentle ping pong ball, this is where I thought it ends but oh no! They then move on to my favourite of the amphibians; the frog! I told poster man that that is disgusting and cruel! He didn’t care. Also on the list if interested is birds, then it goes to eggs (It shouldn’t be the order of this that I have the problem with but it does annoy me slightly that they don’t do eggs before the bird itself!) then they move on from animal cruelty to knitting needles, cigarettes (general old lady merchandise) then a fish! (Back to cruelty!) its a very sort after trade and one does wonder what the general clientele must look like.
We moved swiftly on, some go go girls were dancing miserably on their poles in the bars, they seemed bored more than anything else! In the end we just had an ice cream and went back to the safety of our hostel where we knew we wouldn’t be hounded by men with posters and woman with powerful vaginas!
