#Factor50Shades Darker

In the evening we decided to go on a sundowner tour. We climbed onto the truck and met our very jolly, thick accented guide. The park was still quiet with just a few animals milling about (maybe the lions scared them all off this morning!).

As the day turned to dusk, there was a profound peacefulness in the park. We pulled over for snacks and drinks. Wine and biltong, we hovered unnecessarily close to the truck as the guide told us horror stories of animals trying to hunt humans on tour!

As we slowly plodded on, my dad spotted a tortoise laying in the grass. His head swelled with pride as the guide told him he had a good eye for spotting the animals. Further along we reached another watering hole. Drinking gracefully, an enormous bull elephant stood at the edge of the waterhole. His huge frame reflected perfectly in the water. The only thing to disturb the peace was the flashes from each camera as everyone tried to snap the perfect picture of this magnificent chap.
Not long after, a small bird wanted to join the party, so he swept down and landed just beneath the elephants foot. Like when a small puppy walks beneath your feet. Irritation flooded the elephant.
He swung his huge foot to kick the tiny bird away then proceeded to chase it with its enormous trunk. The tiny fellow flapped quickly away to another part of the pond but this wasn't good enough for the bull. He casually walked over and stood next to the creature who was 1000 times smaller than him. Had the bird been forgiven? Acting natural, the elephant dunked his trunk into the water and sucked up a drink, the little bird waited nervously. Without any warning, water exploded out from his trunk raining over the bird's little head completely drowning him in water. The tiny, sodden chap just stood, frozen in fear until the elephant walked off and left him there to dry- don't think he'll be flying too close to an elephant again.
