I just arrived to the Sunoco Gas Station. The total amount I was charged is $11 for my trip of 8 miles, and 13 minutes. Now that i'm all set, I am on my way to my first destination. My first destination is to Washington Monument, which is 10 minutes away from my location. I just arrived to the Washington Monument, on Independence Ave 5w. My ticket to visit the monument was $1.50. The Washington Monument is an obelisk on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, once commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States. The History and Culture that i learned from this monument is, the National Mall and Memorial Parks (NAMA) is responsible for more than 1,000 acres of parkland containing many of the United States' more significant natural and cultural resources. The sites of NAMA are cherished symbols of our nation, known worldwide and depicted on everything from currency to the nightly news. Located in the core of the Nation's Capital, NAMA administers, interprets, maintains, and preserves the Washington Monument, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, D.C. War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, George Mason Memorial, Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House, the National Mall, East and West Potomac Parks, Constitution Gardens, 60 statues, and numerous other historic sites, memorials, and parklands. NAMA is responsible for significant maintenance and preservation support for the White House as well as the United States Navy Memorial. NAMA's origins are as old as the capital city itself. NAMA contains more than 80 historic structures and over 150 major named historic parks, squares, circles and triangles. NAMA offers Americans the opportunity to get in touch with our heritage. The sites of National Mall and Memorial Parks are a testament to America's past and present where the values of our nation are presented in a masterful blending of formal history and tradition and informal contemporary life. I just got back to my car, and my next destination is to the US Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, VA which is 10 minutes away from my current location. I am on my way to the US Marine Corps War Memorial. I have made it to my second destination. "In honor and in memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since November 10, 1775." The United States Marine Corps War Memorial represents this nation's gratitude to Marines and those who have fought beside them. While the statue depicts one of the most famous incidents of World War II, the memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775. I am done visiting the US Marine Corps Memorial. My next destination is to Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located in Fort Myer, VA. I just arrived to my third destination to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery stands atop a hill overlooking Washington, D.C. On March 4, 1921, Congress approved the burial of an unidentified American soldier from World War I in the plaza of the new Memorial Amphitheater. he Tomb sarcophagus was placed above the grave of the Unknown Soldier of World War I. West of the World War I Unknown are the crypts of unknowns from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Those three graves are marked with white marble slabs flush with the plaza. I am not headed to my next destination to Lincoln Memorial in Washington dc which is 7 minutes away from my location. I have now arrived to my fifth destination in Lincoln Center located in the Constitution Ave NW. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, just as the Civil War was ending. By March of 1867, Congress incorporated the Lincoln Monument Association to build a memorial to the slain 16th president. Learn about the main features of the Lincoln Memorial, including the statue of Lincoln, murals, and inscriptions. Discover how and why it was constructed, the landscape and views that surround it, and the monumental efforts taken over the years to preserve and maintain this iconic site. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States and titan of our national heritage, grew up as a poor boy on the frontier. Reading books by candlelight, after long hours at school or on the farm, proved invaluable to young Lincoln. He later served as a store clerk, a river trader, and a "rail-splitter" used to hard physical labor. A plain speaker for plain folks, Lincoln blended his love of the written word with a strong work ethic and pursued a legal career, then a political one from the Illinois state legislature to the U.S. Congress. Here was a man who aspired to lead a nation. I am headed to my next destination to the National Air and Space Museum which is 10 minutes away from my current location. I just arrived to my sixth destination to the National Air and Space Museum located in Independence Ave SW. I am all done visiting all 6 places. I am drained from today. I definitely need sleep.
