Today was our first full day in Les Gets and we'd had hopes of hiking and discovering the area, but we had a rough night last night so it was a slower day than planned.
Smith's top left tooth has popped through the gum and the second one isn't far behind. The poor little guy wasn't settling unless he was nursed or cuddled next to us, so we're all feeling pretty tired today.
Tyler went off to work in the morning so Smith and I had our nap then packed up for the day. We strolled into the village and walked around the main street to see what there is here.
Les Gets is a small ski village, part of the Porte du Soleils ski area, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. It's a real resort town with a population of 1260 which is more bumping in the winter, but there are still shops and restaurants open and there's definitely buzz for the event.
We hung out at the SRAM race truck for a bit after that and caught up with some friends; it's parked right in the village at the base of the mountain. We went back to the apartment for naptime then into the village again for lunch with Tyler.
I'd also done some research and there's a lake within the village so Smith and I hiked up there in the late afternoon. He had his first swim in fresh water and loved it. He couldn't get enough of splashing the water even though it wasn't very warm. He liked sitting in the water also, but the bottom of the lake is covered in small stones which he wanted to grab and put in his mouth - the perfect choking hazard.
The day wrapped up with watching some of the Pumptrack event - as much of it as Smith could stay up for. Then it was back to the apartment for Smith and I to tuck him into his shower bed - the place is so small that the shower is in the bedroom, and his crib butts up into it. It's nice and cool in there though!
After he went to bed I vegged out on the couch and watched some TV. The new season of House of Cards is available in France, so I watched an episode which felt like a real treat! May have to do it again... Then it was time to get some sleep so we hopefully have a bit more energy tomorrow.
