Tour de Smith

After a couple more sleepless nights we've fallen behind again on posting, so I'm doing another weekend combo post. But really, there's not much to report on. Truthfully, this has been a challenging few days. Smith's second top tooth just cut through the gums so relief is in sight, but there hasn't been much sleep and I've been feeling like I'm coming a bit undone.

Saturday we strolled around the village, met Tyler for lunch then tried to hike to watch the downhill race but the viewing area was pretty steep and there weren't any good areas for us to camp out on without Smith rolling down the hill. Later on, we went for a nice traditional mountain dinner though and had a hot stone, grilled meat and veggie dinner. It was simple but tasty.

That night was particularly rough with hours of Smith crying, so Sunday was a write-off. I spent most of the day in bed and had my first 'why did we sign up for this' moment. I was missing Smith's separate room, routine, and comfort, and even though I knew this would happen at some point it didn't make it much easier. The slopestyle event was today, but I just didn't have it in me to go, so Tyler took Smith until his nap time and I had quiet time which was much needed. I was feeling a bit better by the time dinner rolled around so we went back to the same restaurant and did a raclette dinner. It was delicious, but of course hot melted cheese, potatoes, cured meat and pickle is.

That wrapped up our time in Les Gets as Monday is a travel day to Verona. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't hike the Alps and explore the region more, but I have to remind myself that there will be tough days and I can't do it all. We would have been holed up at home if we were there, so same applies here.

The old Smithster seems to be more comfortable now though so hopefully we have a good spell coming our way.
