Today was another travel day to get to Les Gets for Crankworx, the same mountain bike event that's held each year in Whistler. Tyler's coworkers and some of our other friends that do the event circuit will be here, so we're looking forward to seeing friendly faces. It's another four-hour drive through France, Germany, Switzerland then back to France.
Tyler has some friends that live in Buhl, by Ammerschwihr, so after we left the apartment we stopped in for a little visit. Pauline was the most generous hostess and had prepared a tasty lunch with spinach tart, salad, cheese, prosciutto, and a strawberry salad. She also took us for a nice walk just by her house where there is an old abbey tucked away in the mountains.
We were back on the road after that and this ride was alright but not as smooth as our first long trip. It was still beautiful though - stunning lakes, mountains, and quaint villages. Given my driving ineptitudes, I've been in charge of navigating which has been fine so far, but we think Google Maps took us on a bit of a goose chase for this drive. We made it but drove through tiny neighbourhoods to get here.
We pulled into town around 7 and we were all pretty pooped. Our Airbnb here is a TINY apartment that barely fits us and our stuff, but it will be fine for the next four nights. It's the first time in our two weeks though that I'm feeling a bit of travel fatigue. Four nights will be good to recalibrate a bit before we're off to Italy and Austria.
Tomorrow we'll explore a bit of Les Gets and hopefully feel a bit more grounded.
