Today felt like our first 'normal' day. Tyler headed to the office in Schweinfurt to start his work week, so the Smithster and I were left to our own devices.
We were all pretty sleepy after another long night. The poor guy is still adjusting, and we had a couple of hours from midnight to 2 a.m. of a confused, grumpy baby. We did manage to get a bit of sleep after that though and had energy to tackle the day.
We started with our usual brekki routine then it was time for Smith's nap which meant I had time to get some errands done. First on the list was laundry. Our apartment has a machine, but try as I might I couldn't get it on. After half an hour of Google translate, weird YouTube videos and a lot of button pushing I gave up and emailed our host. After not hearing back for a while I tried again and thought to check to see if it was plugged in. It wasn't... It was a quick fix and we were back in action.
I also took nap time as an opportunity to indulge in a favourite vice...The Bachelorette! You can take the girl out of North America but you can't take the North America out of the girl. Thank goodness Tyler had the genius idea to bring our Apple TV! I'll be able to follow along all season!
Later on we met up with Brit for lunch. We found a little food stand and had a delicious curry and hibiscus iced tea. Then we strolled around and I got a prepaid SIM card for my phone; I now officially have a European number! We also found a nice organic grocery store which had nice produce, and Canadian maple syrup!
The rest of the day was quiet. We want to settle Smith into a routine to help with nighttime sleeping, so we're sticking close to home for naps. He's also just about got crawling and cruising figured out, so all he wants to do is practice!
It was our first dinner at the apartment too. Wine festival is over, which is probably for the best because I'm ready for some greens and veg. We don't have an oven but I still pulled together a decent and healthy meal.
Not much more to report. I have a feeling that as we get settled our days will be spent doing a lot of what we do at home, so you'll get some insight into our day-to-day, albeit a little more exciting since we're in a foreign land!
