Tour de Smith

Last night we had the closest thing to a normal night since we arrived. Smith woke up and fussed for just a little bit after eating before he fell back asleep. The other couple times he woke up he ate then went right back down. I think we're over the jet lag hump!

I think you're getting the picture of what our daily routine is like - three naps a day and usually two outings between them - so from now on I'll keep to writing about our little adventures.

I haven't exercised since being here, save for a lot of walking, so I was craving an elevated heart rate and sweat. It's a bit harder to get a work out in with no serious hiking around and Tyler having long work hours, so I decided to strollercise up to our local fortress. It wasn't a long walk, but it was a steep one, and pushing probably about 50 pounds of baby and stroller was definitely a work out. But it was worth it - the view of the city from the top was beautiful.

The fortress is called the Marienberg fortress and was a home to local prince-bishops for nearly five centuries. Most of the current structures were first built between the 16th and 18th century but had to be reconstructed after World War 2. There's a museum up there that we'll check out another day, but today was just an up and down trip.

As usual, Smith made friends on our stroll. A lady stopped to take pictures of him and then had her husband take pictures of the two of them together. Such a celebrity baby!

We had a nice lunch with Brit afterwards at the same place we'd eaten on our first day (I was finally able to find it again!) and then later on for dinner the three of us met up with Ross and Brit again for tacos and burritos. Never thought we'd get food Mexican food in Germany, but it was really tasty!

Our other adventure was finding wipes. Pharmacies, or an apotheke, only sell drugs and medicine, nothing else. And grocery stores don't carry baby products either. So after visiting a couple of spots someone pointed me in the direction of a drug store. It wasn't a terribly interesting adventure, but just shows one of the many differences between here and home.

Tomorrow we take the train to Schweinfurt where Tyler's office is. It'll be Smith's first train ride!
