Today was a bank holiday in Germany, which meant a long weekend for all!
The holiday is Whit Monday, which is celebrated the day after Pentecost. Now, despite going to a religious school, I don't know anything about Pentecost so the religious aspect of the holiday is lost on me. But, the holiday is also recognized as the kick-off to summer, so it's like the European version of May 2-4.
Tyler's office was closed, so we got a bonus hang out day. We had a slow start after a bit of a long night with a jet-lagged baby, but Smith was raring to go. He even kind of started to crawl!
After nap #1, we went out for a stroll back to the wine festival for a snack. It had been raining in the morning but looked like it was clearing up. Turns out it wasn't - it started pouring once we arrived so we took cover under a tent and snacked on our pretzel (Smith tried some too!) Ross and Brit joined us later on for some lunch and a bottle of wine. The food was delicious, again, and so was the wine.
We went back to the apartment after that for nap time then Tyler had a couple work calls, so Smith and I went for a walk along the Main river and around the city.
Later on we went back to the wine festival AGAIN for dinner. It was the last day so we wanted to make sure we soaked it up. We had another tasty meal, and tried a seasonal specialty, erdbeerbowle - a strawberry wine punch. It was tasty, but super sweet.
Then it was time to head home and wind down for the night. Tyler's work week starts on Tuesday, so hopefully we get more rest tonight!
