Retirement Odyssey - Part 2

Today was the first truly rainy day we've had in a long time, and yet, though it was gray and rainy on arrival at the casino in Monte Carlo, our gamblers luck changed and it was hot and partly sunny by the time we were touring Monaco Ville in the early afternoon.

The casino is over the top decorated. By paying 17 euros each for a morning tour before the gambling commences, we were able to see almost all the rooms, even the private ones that the general gambling public never gets to use; they're just for celebrities and high rollers. Made a quick trip to the Monaco Cathedral; very Italian feeling. Beautiful 16th century tryptch (see photo).

The bus trip back was packed, especially after we made the stop at Eze- le-Village. The views from the bus of this little hill top village, overhanging the Mediterranean were amazing! Good thing we were the first ones on in Monaco so we got seats for the 30 min trip back to Villefranche.

Tomorrow will be our last of 65 days in France. We've been here long enough that I don't even feel like we're in a foreign country any more. Being able to read and speak some French helps create that feeling of comfort as well.

Back to the brasserie for dinner again. We're "well known customers" by now. We see so many pizzas going out the door to be delivered each time we're there, we decided to have one ourselves tonight. Very good quatre fromages (mozzarella, chevre, camambert and roquefort.)

Walked - 4.6 miles

Drove - zero km (except in the bus)
