Christmas Holiday

New Year’s Eve! We’re still a little travel weary so we’ve had an easy day chilling at home. We did decide to venture out for a late lunch and a wander around the Piazza del Duomo before we do a rooftop tour of the Duomo di Milano. We spotted several Christmas trees in the nearby Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and explored the temporary markets where we picked up some very stinky truffle oil and salt. That will be fun at NZ customs! Also found an amazing gelato shop for a sweet treat.

It was an overcast afternoon but the lights came on just as we stepped out on to the roof, so we had a great view of the piazza and the intricate details of the Duomo. Back down and briefly through the church as the organ was belting out some music (quickly had to do some decibel sound checking for Benjamin). One miniature for Alex and back home to try and find something for dinner. Just about everything was shut including the local supermarket so we ventured into a funny food hall and found some pasta to take home. Could of been fun to stay as there were some drag queens about to perform, but we went home and listened to the ensuing cacophony of fireworks from the safety of the apartment. Bedtime for everyone just after midnight… happy new year!
