HUGE day today! We’re off to see the Colosseum today plus Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. What an amazing architectural masterpiece! Although I’ve heard it wasn’t built in a day. The Colosseum was great but we were completely taken by the scale of the Roman forum. How on earth they managed to build those enormous structures is astonishing. We bought a great little book in the shop that had illustrated overlays that showed its former glory.
The boys loved jumping from huge paving stone to paving stone (playing the floor is lava of course). It was easy to imagine a couple of Roman boys playing the same thing hundreds if not thousands of years ago.
