Woke up this morning to a stunning day. So good in fact the local paper has proclaimed that it will be the warmest April 19th since 1841. Forecast is for 27 degress! The locals have responded with an alarming amount of pastey skin suddenly being displayed.
Mike and Jo are back to work today so the three of us are in tourist mode again. We started the day by getting ourselves to Little Venice
which is on Regents Canel and is a beatiful area.
From there we took a canel boat up the canel to the London Zoo. Great trip through a 250m tunnel as well as a very upmarket series of gardens and houses. Certainly in a nice part of London here.
The boat deposits you in the middle of the zoo and we then spent a couple of hours trying to focus on the major animals. We saw some great presentations but we had nowhere enough time to see the whole park so a revisit is definitely on the cards.
We rejoined a canel boat and continued up to Camden Market. This is a full on market and we secured lunch in a pub overlooking the lock there. A well deserved rest and a couple of the local largers went down well.
After lunch we took on the frantic stalls of the market. Again only covered a small number of the available shops but there was some success with shopping.
The day was still beatiful and somewhat warm so we walked from Camden down the canel to Kings Cross. On the way we found another lock and watched some tourists take their boat through it. They did well.
From Kings Cross back home where we set up in our backyard, joined by our local squiral, to enjoy the balance of the day.
Headlines on the news, as you would expect here, are all about the weather and how it will rain again next week! Planning more outdoor trips before then.
