A reasonably slow start.
The London marathon is on today so there are 40,000 runners and 900,000 spectators out there. We were happy to watch the start on the telly and then head in the opposite direction.
RB, Tracy, Janet and I headed off to Kew Gardens. This invloved a couple of train changes but we are getting better at this travel stuff and we arrived late morning on another beatiful day. Hard to believe this is the same London we were in two weeks ago.
This is our first visit to Kew and as has often happened this trip we were very pleasently surprised. The gardens are magnificant and massive. We started our visit on the Tree Top walk and then worked our way to the Pagoda (built late 1700's!). After lunch we explored the massive tropical glass houses and the Princess of Wales centre which deals with dry parts of the world.
From there we fell over Kew

From there we fell over Kew
Palace and spent a couple of hours exploring the palace and the kitchens as well as the associated gardens. We were often encountering trees planted in 1759 and even found the worlds oldest pot plant which has been around for more then 250 years.
The gardens are a fantastic place and we only managed to see about 1/3 of them. Definately on our to do list for our next visit.
Dinner tonight was with Mike and Jo at their flat. Another great Jo creation. Back home to try and plan our last 10 days. Going to be a struggle to fit everything in!
