Our Adventures in France

An overcast day, time for a little R&R. A walk to the Boulangerie for pastries where the young guy giggled and told me my french accent was cute. Mmmmm. Was that just his polite way of saying it was bad? Is his understanding of the English language not as comprehensive as it appeared? Or maybe my accent is cute "n'est pas?".

It seems every Friday morning the shop owners drag all the contents out of their shops onto the footpath to give a sort of 'market place' look. The prices aren't reduced and it is impossible to walk down the street, but there was people everywhere purchasing clothes and shoes like there was no tomorrow. The stuff was so expensive...I suppose we are in the French Riviera.

Afternoon drinkies on the balcony, we are making this a ritual. A cool breeze is coming off the ocean. There seems to be more people around today, maybe because it is Friday and they have come to the Riviera for the weekend. Today we discovered random people walking the water's edge on the beaches selling hats and clothes, this afternoon there seems to be more of them.

At the moment, Ian is being entertained by the traffic on the roundabout on the street below. It seems to be Rafferty's Rules. If there is a line of traffic, pushies and motorbikes just go up the inside of the traffic and around the roundabout the wrong way. Cars and delivery vans are also parked on this roundabout. A bit of horn honking but no real aggression. So civilised.

Clouds appear to be forming over the mountains behind Gulfe Juan. It feels like moisture in the air, my hair tells me there could be rain. Still, it is very peaceful and very relaxing watching the wealthy sail by...or maybe that is just the Mojitos talking.
