Semester Abroad in Sweden

Candy shop next to candy shop are aligned on the main road in Gränna. Each shop was packed with different flavours of candy sticks called Polkagris. We watched how the traditional candy was made by the trained staff. Making the candy is a very typical student summer job here in this town. We tasted it and of course bought some as well. My favourite though was the homemade chocolate fug. The sweet smell of candy was even present on the sidewalks as we left the shop.

Gränna is quite a small historical city. Amalia Eriksson, first female CEO of her own company in Sweden, began making candy in the middle 19th. Polkagris originally are red and white with a fresh taste of peppermint. There are some museums here as well. Such as the Grenna Museum which displays the first artic exhibition done with a hot air balloon and lead by a Grännen citizen. There not train station to the town. However, FlixBus is a good and cheap alternative.
