Semester Abroad in Sweden

After our first Anatomy and Physiology course Simon, Camila, and I biked to the city centre to go have a coffee at Babettes Kafferi. Each of us got a kanelbullar, traditional cinnamon buns. They were amazing! And probably the best I had so far.
The first month here I completely stuffed myself with kanelbullar. They are everywhere, meetings, gatherings and as dinner deserts. You have them normally to fikas which is a normal coffee break where you come together with friends and colleagues. This is usually at a set time of the day once in the morning and afternoon and is around 20 to 30 minutes long. It is a valued and respected time where no work should be done. I appreciated this because it takes the pressure away of the thought that one should be working constantly and conveys the message that planned breaks are appropriate. In my opinion, this makes people a bit more relaxed and makes studying less stressful. In my corridor we have implemented a monthly Fika to just catch up with what is going on and to exchange our daily life experience.
