As soon as the sun is shining people are out and about. Parks, forest, and lake areas are filled. Swedish people try to spend all summer outside and who wouldn’t with the fantastic nature so close by. My friends and I made the best out of the remaining summer weather by jumping into lake Roxen, having picnics, hiking in Tinnerö eklandspark naturreservat (oak park natural reserve) and running on well-made tracks through the forest. I love how accessible nature is here. All these areas have a map at the entrance and coloured marked paths with different distances making it merely impossible to get lost. Or so we believed during our hike at Tinnerö. Setting out purely to have a good hike no one really paid attention to all the different coloured paths we took. We found ourselves back at places where we had made gorgeous selfies just 15 minutes before. That day we had a couple déjà vus.
You can find a bit of green everywhere you go. Most of the places such as parks and forest are normally located very close to living areas. The lake and some hiking trails are no more than a 40-minute cycle

away. The phone app Naturkartan can indicate all the running, hiking, barbeque, and camping places closest to you. Additional places you might want to check out are Kärna mosse (moor), Linköpings trädgårdsförening (garden society) park, and the forest area next to Gamal Friluftsmuseet (open air museum). Great day trips if you have a car would be exploring the natural caves in Trollegater and hiking 30 kilometres in ekopark (eco-park) Omberg.
