Guyana & Suriname

Today another day fully planned. Yesterday we went to bed really early because we had to get up really early today to make sure we got our visa for Suriname.
So we had to wake up at 7 to drive with Vick up all the way downtown to the surinamese consulate. First we had to stop by Vick's office so he brought us to this sweet little coffeeshop "Petit Four" and we had some nice coffee and smoothies while Vick was doing some work.
After that we went to the Surinamese consulate. The guard there was really rude and asked me if I was French while she was looking at my Dutch passport, real dumb, besides that she was pretty rude

New Amsterdam, Guyana

Today another day fully planned. Yesterday we went to bed really early because we had to get up really early today to make sure we got our visa for Suriname.
So we had to wake up at 7 to drive with Vick up all the way downtown to the surinamese consulate. First we had to stop by Vick's office so he brought us to this sweet little coffeeshop "Petit Four" and we had some nice coffee and smoothies while Vick was doing some work.
After that we went to the Surinamese consulate. The guard there was really rude and asked me if I was French while she was looking at my Dutch passport, real dumb, besides that she was pretty rude

also, acting like she was the queen of the consulate. Luckily the people inside the office were all very friendly!
What I did like is that it was next to the Dutch consulate, so I finally found some dutch ground here! Whoeeehoeeee! Luckily we got our tourism visa's and we are good for the trip on Friday! Yay!
After that we took off. Vick had to check some properties in the east so we drove all the way to New Amsterdam! Yay more dutch stuff! As I said yesterday you can tell that the further away you get from the poorer the country gets. Also on the east coast. You don't really go inland but still there is a lot of change when you had out of the capital city.
There are a lot of abandoned houses covered in plants and trees and hardly visible completely left over at nature. Further it's a really polluted country. Everywhere you look there is trash and plastic and people don't really try to make it any cleaner unfortunately, because the country itself is really pretty with all it's undiscovered nature!
So after we checked out the properties we had some nice lunch at a Chinese place. I had some Spanish rice and fried snapper which was delicious. Joshua had Dahl and duck curry with rice which was also very nice.

After that we took off for the long drive home! 2 hours till we reached the city Vick and Romona live in, But we stopped and had some beers on the road which was really nice. We weren't in a rush so that's always good!
Joshua's cousin sells fresh coconut water at the side of the road in big bottles so on our way up and on our way down we got a big bottle which was so delicious! I loveeeee fresh coconut water!
In the evening we all went to KFC to eat some chicken. KFC is a really big thing here and everybody adores it! So we drove to one KFC and they ran out of the wings and because and that is such a big thing we had to go to the other KFC in town because they really wanted their wings! haha! I have to admit it is a lot better then all the chicken I tasted in Holland but I am still not as excited as the local people here!
