Linden, Guyana
Today I combine 2 days in one. That is mostly because yesterday (day 7) nothing worth of telling happened. We hanged around the house and did some fishing at the seawall without success.
Today (day 8) was a great day. At first in the morning we went to the ministry of health to get Yellow Fever vaccine for Joshua & Mona. You're obligated to have that if you want to go to Suriname where we planning to go to this friday. Imagine coming into this little room where a bunch of nurses is waiting till they can give somebody their shots. There are only so many shots available during the day so only if you come really early you're lucky. We were really early this morning so luckily they got their shots and everything is ready and set.
After that we got some lunch at Maggie's. Maggie's is a famous breakfast place here in Georgetown and man o man everything there looked so great and delicious I wanted to take a bite of everything there haha!
In the afternoon we went with Vick 2 hrs driving inland.
We went all the way to this place called Linden where you can find super clear blue water. It is really odd because all the water here is "blackwater" but in these little ponds you find the clearest water you'll ever see. That is because of all the minerals in the ground there that the water gets another color.
This road trip was super nice. Guyana is beautiful and especially when you explore it by the road you can see a lot. The further you come inland the poorer it is unfortunately, the houses are really bad quality but the people are happy and they have a simple and easy life! It is a pity that this beautiful country is so unknown to so many people bc it has a lot of undiscovered treasures to see, the jungle is amazing and so is the rest of the country!
