Guyana & Suriname

Today was a nice and lazy day. We chilled most of the day and hanged around the house. The night was a little rough because I had a lot of mosquito's bothering me. In the morning we went over to Joshua's uncle Mohan's house. He is a fisherman and was busy repairing and sorting out the nets because he is going back to the sea next week. The people here work hard for little money. But the good thing is they always smile. Uncle mohan is a very sweet man, he reminds me a lot of Joshua's mother Dee. We hang out with his wife Maileen and his daughter Angel. Joshua wanted to get some breakfast over there but they were not cooking, so we had to go back

Georgetown Guyana

Today was a nice and lazy day. We chilled most of the day and hanged around the house. The night was a little rough because I had a lot of mosquito's bothering me. In the morning we went over to Joshua's uncle Mohan's house. He is a fisherman and was busy repairing and sorting out the nets because he is going back to the sea next week. The people here work hard for little money. But the good thing is they always smile. Uncle mohan is a very sweet man, he reminds me a lot of Joshua's mother Dee. We hang out with his wife Maileen and his daughter Angel. Joshua wanted to get some breakfast over there but they were not cooking, so we had to go back

to Mona's house and she made us some roti and plantain, very delicious. Then we went back to Mohan's house for lunch. First they decided to make pickled. That is some fruits and veggies they put in hot water and then they add a lot pepper and it becomes really spicy. It's nice but they kinda like it super hot so I almost burned my oesophagus. LOL. Josh climbed on the fence to pick some mango's. He is like a little monkeyman when he is back in his hometown. He does not act like he is almost 30 years old, he acts like he is a little boy again. But it is fun to see him around family.
After we made the pickeld we went to pick up some chinese food which was super delicious, we had some fried rice, steamed veggies and stripped chicken. We had fun talking with his family and eating.
In the afternoon we just hanged a little around the house. Chilled a little in the hammock. Played some games with Mona, see who can name the most countries in the world (which I do best :P LOL, and Joshua hates losing from me :D) The ambiance here is good, it's so calm, people don't rush. If it doesn't happen today it will happen tomorrow so they don't worry about anything they just take life as it comes. What I find really funny here is that you see all kinds of animals loose on the street. Goats, dogs but also bigger animals like cows, they just walk around like they are not owned by anyone and they just go their own way. And go back to their owner whenever they

want to. It's a funny picture when you see a group of goats or cows walking by just like that.
In the evening we went to the mall, because we didn't cook anything during the day. We went for a little shopping and then went to see Josh and Vick in a sportsbar downstairs. We had some beers and gin&tonic and some finger food like chicken, fries and calamaris and we all had a lovely time together. Joshua, Vick and me stayed a little longer and after we went to play some pool a neighbor came to pick us up and bring us home. They are unbelievably close in this town, everyone knows everyone and it's very common to just ask each other for favors and things like that.
We had another lovely and well spent day! (Besides the mosquitoes who drive me nuts haha)
