9/8. Uetliburg to Lausanne
Feeling a bit sad after leaving Kuschi and Martin - will we see them again? Their turn now to come and visit us!? Took the motorways.
It was very windy and raining, and surprisingly quiet in the campground. We walked to the lake (right there) and along in strong wind along the foreshore. The photos from then compare to the next morning are interesting- it was calm. A good walk, it is used as a running track - and there is a proper one as well, and a yacht club - $million there, the Bikini Bar, a book exchange in an alcove. We ate in the restaurant- good comfort food, pasta.
We found Switzerland expensive compared to France.
10/8. To Grenoble.
The lake was serene next morning. So different. There is a different landscape here, compared to northern France. Not the old villages and wheat fields.
It wasn’t a long drive so we took the train into the city, then queued for the trip up the hill. A great view from the old fort, terrific views of old roofs (painting thoughts here). Bought James AUSTRALIAN sandals!!
Back on the train, James cycled to the supermarket and prepared a fish dinner - SO good. Very noisy Portuguese neighbours were told

11/8. Grenoble to Orange.
Off again, and to Orange the city not Orange the frustrating internet provider! A nice camp with high hedges. James did another masterpiece dinner.
In the morning we drove to the arc de Triomphe! Yep, but very old and not in Paris. Much more grand. A good park there so we walked into the centre, along Rue Victor Hugo. Interesting doorways and alleyways.
And then very large and tall walls and arches. Suzanna had been told to walk into the park behind so ... up the steps ... and up the steps ... and up the steps. We could look down into the Theatre and into the Ampitheatre - wow! There is a whole other history here, old and colourful. Hard on the knees back down, and back we went along ictor Hugo. This was so worthwhile- thanks Martin for the tip about going here.
