Cross-Country 2017

Made camp on the banks of the Columbia River this morning -- at the Crescent Bar RV Resort. There has been an abrupt change in the terrain, with the cedar and pine forests giving way to a desert environment, along with big fields of agriculture, that reminds me of parts of Southern California. Didn't expect it, but it's not unpleasant, and picturesque in its own way. Temperature has risen quite a bit, but it's a dry heat, like they always say, so not as bad as home.

This is to be our last campground within the Thousand Trails system. Why is that? Because, despite brochures that boast, "Wherever the road takes you, we're there!" they've definitely missed a few places. Like most of the northwest and northern central areas, which is a lot of our route back. So we'll use this place as a base for a few days to scope out online some reasonably priced stopovers, which will probably be public parks, since the private ones are mostly overpriced, even the ugly ones. Should be interesting. But for now, we have a pickleball court right in our backyard, and the Columbia River right across the road. We'll be chillin' here for the next few days. :)
