Cross-Country 2017
Tucumcari, NM. May have been a happening place in its heyday, but now it’s pretty rough, and definitely has its share of weirdos. Part of the famed Mother Road (a.k.a Route 66) runs right through here, which is why it’s still a tourist draw. There’s a Route 66 museum that we missed because it closed at 1 PM. And parts of the Rawhide TV series was filmed here, so now they celebrate every year with Rawhide Days that begin in early May. They do live music at the convention center, along with blacksmith competitions, cattle drive, wagon rides, and a bunch of other Old West stuff, including a special appearance by none other than Clint Eastwood’s daughter. Sounds like fun, but we’ll be gittin’ along down the road tomorrow to Albuquerque.
Had fun searching for geocaches and some cool murals that are all over town. Cool piece of history.
