Cross-Country 2017

Today we reached the northern-most campground that we will be at on this trip. We are on the Puget sound. Out by the water, you can occasionally see a jet from the nearby Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island. We are also on Swinomish Indian Tribal land., or what used to be. There's this fish pen out in the water where some company raises Salmon, but the Indians don't like it, because they say it's unsafe and that wild Salmon is better. They're probably right.

We've bypassed Seattle temporarily, as we explore this area first, the islands and waterways up here, and probably venturing across to Canada for a look at Victoria or Vancouver. (We're saving Seattle for next week, when we' ll be joined by some other travelers and maybe meet up with some of those Enquist people).

Verizon has, once again, failed us in regards to service. There is a spot here by the water, which park patrons call "Verizon Island," where you can get a decent signal, but yeah, Verizon pretty much stinks outside the big cities. (Don't believe the coverage map). Quite a few Canadians here at the park. They celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. Can't believe it's almost 4th of July! This trip's going fast!
