Late Evening
We left Jefferson this morning around 10:00 under cloudy skies and a smattering of soft rain. Our journey took 6 hours that flew by as we zig zagged down the less travelled roads away from the interstate. No trucks, not much traffic and beautiful scenery.
Our view out the window changed from farmland to ranchland. Acres and acres of well kept pastures, home to cattle, dairy cows, horses, goats, sheep and yep more donkeys appeared, mixed in with the horses. Iron gates opened to winding roads leading, I presume to the owners homes. On the highway side however were homes of lessor value housing ranchhands and labourers.
We arrived at Hotel Contessa situated on The Riverwalk in San Antonio in time for a cocktail before walking to dinner. It is a balmy 32 degrees, warm breezes waft in and out. It was suggested that we go to a TexMex restaurant in the Market for dinner, off we go. En route we encounter live music, a Music Festival is winding up and bands are playing on every major corner. The market is packed. The restaurant held 500 people! The food was a disappointment but the company and the laughter was great! Tomorrow is a big day.
The photos, top is breakfast, bottom is dinner. Who has more fun?!
