There is nothing like a good sleep in your own bed and yes, it is nice to go away but nicer to be at home.On our arrival last night we called the kids and since I was dying to see them, I made plans for dinner tomorrow night at our house. They said, “are you sure?”, I was so sure.
It did not take us long to unpack and start the laundry. Mail gets opened, junk goes in the garbage. We are tired but it was way too early to tuck in. Peter arrived back after spending Easter in Ottawa shortly after our arrival, we were glad to see him and he was glad to see us. We talked about different things we had all done and he brought us up to date on events around here. After shared tales and some laughs the boys gave in to sleep. I of course was excited, had more wine and carried on. When I did go to bed I slept like a baby.
Today was spent prepping dinner but more importantly spending time with my family. The grandkids always look taller, they are, and more grown up, they are. Everyone is happy and healthy and for this I am truly thankful. I know they miss us as much as we miss them. We had a great dinner with ten around the table and the high chair pulled in, awesome.
Yes the ice huts are gone, there is less snow, part of the lawn is bare, but I know there is more to come, and I don’t care because in a month from now the ice will be off the river and hopefully the lake. Spring will officially be underway here.
I must also record that during this trip Daniel and Kelly were engaged March 31st, in Chicago. We are so happy and excited for them and their families who I know like us wish them health and happiness always as they set out on all of their new adventures. We will celebrate!
Thank you for coming along on this “ride”. I am thankful I have written things down as I have referred to my blog more times than I can count already and so has Tony. Good to know I am not alone when it comes to remembering.

We packed a lot in and enjoyed it all. The best things we did were to take roads less travelled and to plan our route the night before and stick to it. We always had our Swells full of water and an overnight bag for quick stops. If there is a next time I will have more chocolate in the car, we both just needed a little bite every once in awhile.
We did learn an important lesson, one day is never enough to spend in a small town because when you get there you always find out there is so much more to do and see. We often said, we could have spent another day here but reservations were hard to change.
As I write this snow has started to fall, the grass is covered , the wind is howling. This will continue through the day. Safe journey to all who are still travelling. I wish you well, take care of each other and talk to you soon,
Janie
