Day 4 - July 17

If yesterday was a day to vary from the originally planned route, today was the total opposite - we stayed with the route as planned, with the exception being caused by a road closure near Sioux City, IA.

The last couple of days have been very warm, and today was the warmest yet, with temperatures getting upwards of 100F (~ 38C) at times during the day.

We started out of Missouri Valley with a nice, peaceful ride along the Loess Hill Scenic Byway just to the east of the Missouri River. After

managing around a small detour near Sioux City, IA, we visited the requisite local Harley Dealer (Rooster's).

After that, we crossed over into Nebraska and rode along the western shores of the Missouri River on NE12 until crossing into South Dakota after a stop at the Mulberry Point Overlook.

Once we were into SD, we managed to drop down on SD52 and get a photo op along the shores of the Mighty Missouri River - the longest river in North America - at one of the recreation areas along the way.

By then, the temperatures were well into the 90s, so we took the road less travelled all the way west to the town of Winner, SD, where we decided to stay at the local Super 8 Hotel. With us being tired from a long, hot day of riding, the Pizza Hut next door served as a place to eat.

Tomorrow, we should be getting into some of the nicer scenery as we head into "The Badlands"!
