Big trip to the Rockies and back - 2017

After a hearty breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Billings, the crew headed west on I90 for about 100 miles to Livingston, MT. I chose to use I90 because it was about a 90m minute ride instead of the 3 1/2 hour ride if we were to do secondary roads - there really is no direct route between the two other than the interstate. Billings, MT to Choteau, MT

As it turned out, the interstate was not overly busy and it was actually kind of scenic.

After a rest stop in Livingston, we headed north along Hwy 89 - only to find out that the first 6 miles out of Livingston was under construction. But, in the end, Hwy 89 was a beautiful ride with lots of

different landscapes along the way.

After lunch at the Doris Cafe in White Sulphur Springs, we really got our first taste of riding in the mountains, climbing up to elevations of around 7,500 ft before coming back down to around 4,000 ft.

For the first time in a couple of days, we were able to ride in more moderate temperatures, instead of those in the triple digit zone, which made for a fantastic day of riding.

We wound at the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau, MT and dinner (and drinks) were right in the inn at the Livery Saloon
