Big trip to the Rockies and back - 2017

Today was the first of a couple of stay at home days within the greater Denver area.

The only real thing on the plan was to do the climb up 14,155 ft to the top of Pikes Peak. Bob made the excellent suggestion that we take advantage of the good, early morning weather to do the run and it turned out to be awesome. This is definitely a bucket list item: 17 miles up, 17 miles down, plenty of extremely tight switchbacks and tons of outstanding views - if you could take the time to look - is what you are faced with. I was glad to be able to do the run up and down

I was glad to be able to do the run up and down

the mountain without the extra load of our gear, as we had previously decided to stay put in Englewood for a second night. Everyone - including the bikes - did it without incident, and we even got the pins and photo op to prove it!

After that, it was on to a couple of Harley dealers - Pikes Peak HD and Mile High - Parker HD (big renovations going on there making it a huge store).

Then, it was back to the Extended Stay America and over to Landry's Seafood for dinner.

Tomorrow, we get the bikes serviced and then move on - the crew will be losing our most southerly member as he heads back to Florida as the rest of us continue the trek to the southwest.
