Big trip to the Rockies and back - 2017

Today was a day of wildlife, switchbacks, awesome scenery and drastic temperature changes.

We started out at under 50F as we entered Yellowstone National Park, hit temperatures in the high 90's, only to be back to the low 60s within a few minutes. At the higher evelations, we even found walls, maybe 20 foot high, of snow!

Yellowstone National Park, Beartooth and Chief Joseph Highways

Today was a day of wildlife, switchbacks, awesome scenery and drastic temperature changes.

We started out at under 50F as we entered Yellowstone National Park, hit temperatures in the high 90's, only to be back to the low 60s within a few minutes. At the higher evelations, we even found walls, maybe 20 foot high, of snow!

We wound up reaching almost 11,000 ft elevation at the Beartooth Path, and also rode for a bit on flat ground that looked like the

prairies.

Some awesome riding along the Chief Joseph Byway and the Beartooth Scenic Highway, with lots of sweepers and tons of switchbacks.

We saw tons of buffalo, many of them right on the road, a bear cub, and some antelope, and almost ran into that weirdest of animals - a human being - who decided that it was just perfect to run down an incline and into the path of an oncoming motorbike!

We feasted (sic) on breakfast at the local McD's before heading out, stopped in for a coffee and some very good pumpkin bread at the Log Cabin Cafe in Silver Gate, and wound up having a late lunch/early dinner in Cooke City at the Prospector's Restaurant at the Ore House Salloon.
