Page, AZ to Bloomfield, NM
Today was sort of a weird day. In the first place, it appears that Page does not recognize Daylight Savings Time, because we were still in the Mountain Time Zone, but local clocks were all set to Pacific Time Zone.
Anyway, after waiting for the breakfast spot at the Rodeway to open up, we eventually got on the road and took Hwy 98 south and east to where it meets up with Hwy 160. It was more or less a relaxing ride, with gentle rolling hills and very long straightaways. Throughout the day though, we all remarked on the fact that it didn't matter that we
were doing the speed limit, people still wanted to fly by our little group of bikes at higher speeds. One truck even continued to pass as an oncoming car was directly in front of him.
After fueling up, we took Hwy 160 north and east eventually making it to the Four Corners Monument - where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona meet. After the obligatory group shot, we continued onward within Navajo Nation to a lunch stop at Doc's Diner - where we were the only Caucasians in the place. After lunch, we headed towards Farmington and Four Corner HD, and then it was a quick jaunt over to the town of Bloomfield and our hotel for the night - the local Super 8. Part of today's ride was through the area called Monument Valley.
As has been the case for the past couple of days, the mid afternoon heat brings on the high winds, making for a blustery final part of the
daily ride.
