Jasper to Barriere

DAY 16 5th SEPT

Today, is the day where we leave Jasper. It was a regular morning as we all got roused and we packed the car. We were told the other night it would be a four and a half hour drive today to get half-way to Whistler, so we charged our entertainment and got on our merry way. Not long from our departure mum noticed a black animal dash across the road and we had stopped and a look at it ( from in the car), it turned out it was a small black bear. We took some pictures and kept

on driving. Along the way to Barrier (our next overnight stop) we stopped near a bridge for a stretch and noticed a do-hickey that turned out to be some sort of memorial for a man who died nearby, donated by his wife. Hours later we had a toilet break and here we also saw some salmon in the river (though most were dead) and a mother black bear with two cubs. I personally missed the bears but I did see some funny ducks. We drove up to a view point where we could see a lake and saw the Canadian version of the Blue Mountains, though they were bigger, they were less impressive. Later that day we arrived in Barrier and we all got settled in. We had packed a day's worth of clothes to wear so we didn't have to lug our suit cases out. We had tea at a diner called " The Great Barrier Reef". We had a great meal and the service was excellent even when the place

was filled with people who were here to see the rodeo. When we got home we decided to Skype home and Uncle Michael we had a good chat with both.
