DAY 13 2nd SEPT
Today, after a poor night’s sleep partially due to some food poisoning , we had a dreary breakfast of cereal. Later after everyone had had a shower we headed off into town, we stopped off in Jasper and downloaded some new tour guide apps. In the mean time my sister Michelle had started with symptoms of food poisoning as well and after the rest of us javing somethimg to eat we dropped her off where we are staying. Now just Mum, Dad and I, we have started off on our first look around the place. We started off towards Miette

springs and along the way stopped at Ashmar Ridge, This Ridge is very different from the ones at home. This Ridge is white, the reason for this is that it is made of limestone. We drove off later feeling disappointed as we were also meant to see a river and the road but the trees were overgrown and were blocking all view of the river and road. After that we drove around the place listening to the tour guide app and drove up to the Miette hot springs. We had incentive to not get out of the car at this point as it began to hail. We drove off and started on our way back to Jasper. At one point we drove past a bridge where um and I saw something under the bridge. We got out of the car to have a look but there was nothing there however there was a Buck nearby that we took some pictures of. Back in Jasper before doing some shopping we went to a bakery called ‘bear paw bakery’ that the tour guide app mentioned and we bought some baked goods. We then went to Safe-way where we bought ‘supplies’. We then headed home and had ribs with toss salad and potato salad for dinner.

DAY 14 3rd SEPT
After a better night's sleep. We soon left where we are staying behind us, after gaining consciousness. We first headed off to Patricia Lake , the lake nearby where we are staying to take some pictures in the morning when we could see the top of the mountain. We headed up to a canyon where the first view point there was not too much to see but in the second area the canyon was much more visible and right at the edge you could tell that the Milina canyon was about a car’s width but 30 odd metres deep. After our visit to the Milina canyon, we headed

off to Milina Lake where we had a one and a half hour cruise, the cruise was crowded and with the person talking was partially hard to understand but it was well worth it. We motored up alongside the lake to about a third to half the way looking at scenic mountains along the way whilst also learning about the place. We had a ten minute stop next to Spirit Island and went back. Although the island isn’t an island at this time of year where it is connected to the shore. The people were very friendly but it was VERY COLD. The word Milina means evil or wicked in French because a French explorer found the river that fed the lake and when he foolishly tried to cross, he lost all of his supplies, his horses and nearly his life. After we left and looked at some other lakes. The first lake we went to after Milena Lake was Lake Anette, there was some specky views but on our way out we noticed a small herd of female deer with a

youngster. After some pictures we left to go to Edith Lake which was similar but a lot colder and had a un-photo shy squirrel that posed for us. After a hasty retreat from the freezing wind we went back to Lake Anette where we took some more pictures of the four deer. On the way back to the car dad noticed another squirrel which got a lot of pictures whilst it ate a nut in a tree. We then left to go back to Jasper we found another deer that got some photos. We then left the wildlife and went back to our apartment. There we had montreal style chicken and went to bed later that night.

DAY 15 4th SEPT
Today, is our last day before we leave to go to Whistler. We have prepared ourselves for the long journey. Today we are going back to the area that we missed out on with commentary. We headed up to the Athabasca Glacier, this glacier is huge and easily accessible-ish. I was extremely exited when we arrived to the glacier. At first when we arrived we walked into the visitor center and had a look around, here we realized that you had to pay a bucket load of money to go onto the glacier, however I didn't pay much attention to the world around me so that I didn't notice that part. When we went up the hill face to see the glacier I was really excited about being able to go onto the glacier but when we came up to the edge of the hill I realized that we couldn't go onto the glacier. There was the glacier right in front of us, but was blocked off by a fence. There were

reasons to this; like how the glacier has holes around the lip of it so people could fall in and get hypothermia. Because I didn't realize that you had to pay $80 per head to go onto the glacier I was extremely annoyed, annoyed to the point of thinking of putting a sign at the base of the climb saying "Don't bother climbing if you want to go onto the glacier rather than look at it". Even though I found it extremely unfair, if they had to rescue you it would cost a whole lot more. When we arrived back in Jasper, we did some stuff around the place like looking in gift shops and buying groceries. In a gift store I bought a couple of geodes and some jam doughnut flavoured fudge. The rest of the day we listened to the commentary on the way back to Jasper and had a nice evening of relaxing both at our accommodation and in the spa.
