DAY 6 26th AUG
Today, was rather uneventful. We had breakfast at the Motel, as breakfast was included, and we left with our belongings. I noticed on the news that morning that a camera man and a reporter had been shot to death on air. The cameraman had taken a photo of his killer from laying on the ground before the shot which killed him, which was being played on all the news channels that morning. This was breaking news all day, as
you'd expect.
Also in the news was the fact that there were around 170 fires in British Columbia. That is the reason for all the smoke making the mountains visible only though outline. There are also lots of wildfires in Washington - their worst ever fires - also contributing to the smoke haze. The entire northwest corner of the US, and southwest of Canada was covered with a thick blanket of smoke.
We drove from Ellensburg to Couer d-Alene, and checked into our next Motel, and had an early night.
