We took a day trip to Tikal, the capital of Maya civilization, and trekked through the jungle to reach the ancient Mayan ruins. There was a lot of climbing steep steps involved, and at times it was exhausting with a toddler in tow, but it was well worth the effort. The views from some of the temples were absolutely breathtaking! It's not easy to put into words the feeling of standing at the top of one of the tallest man-made temples, hearing all the magical sounds of toucans and other exotic birds flying by while watching the sun set over the jungle. Such a memorable experience!
