San Marcos la Laguna, where we spent most of our time, is a serene, laid back village. It is known as being the holistic, spiritual center and the hippie town on the lake. Here we found yoga and meditation retreats, crystal healers, energy alignment, natural medicine, mushroom growing workshops, and astrologists. We enjoyed some delicious vegan food at Konojel, a restaurant serving inexpensive typical Central American food prepared with local ingredients. Konojel is a non-profit organization working to combat malnutrition and poverty in Guatemala and all profits from the restaurant are used to support this type of work.
