After a few days in the Petén region, we headed southwest to the western highlands of Guatemala to explore Lake Atitlán. Lake Atitlán is surrounded by three volcanoes, Atitlán, Toliman and San Pedro which all helped to form this natural wonder. The lake is an “energy vortex” and is known as a sacred place by the Mayan culture. There is so much to do around the lake from hiking a volcano at sunrise to exploring the colorful Mayan lakeside villages all with different vibes. One of my highlights, was admiring the stillness of this beautiful body of water at dawn. Peacefully amazing.
