The Doro Nawas Desert Mountain Lodge Damaraland is our home for three nights, the main lodge is set on a rocky outcrop overlooking ancient plains below with glorious views of the rugged area.,
The huge guest rooms, made out of stone and canvas, are spread out on the valley floor. The beds are on wheels so you can push them out onto the veranda and sleep under the stars.........brilliant.
Doro Awas was not only our home base during our search for the desert elephants but we also took a day trip with Mzewi to the Twyfelfontein area to see the ancient rock engravings made several thousand years ago by the San people,there are approximately 2500 petroglyphics in the area that is now a national monument.
