The Peloponnesian Divorce Tour

Off to Delphi. According to Greek Mythology Zeus released two eagles one from each end of the world and they met above Delphi making it the centre of the world.

Driving across the bridge at Patra we left the Pelponnese temporarily. The coast road on the north side of the gulf of Corinth was equally as good as the South. More rugged and only a few coastal villages there was almost no traffic. We stopped for lunch in Itea before turning inland to Delphi.

The campsite at Delphi was in a spectacular location. Very quiet and peaceful with a pool and taverna. Excellent views down to the sea. We pulled up next to Father Ted's caravan!

An lovely fresh fish meal in the taverna and off to the ancient site of Delphi in the morning.

Five days in and yet to meet a Brit or even hear a British voice.

We decide to walk from the campsite to Delphi village and the ancient site of Delphi. About 2.5k each way but with spectacular views. Mostly uphill on the way there, much easier coming back. Lovely wild flowers which we hadn't really seen before, the benefit of visiting early in the summer. Disturbed a grass snake on the way up, first sighting of a snake in Greece, but it wasn't to be the last.
