Day 2 in Dubai we took the metro, tram and Monorail down to The Palm. Pretty phenomenal what they have built out of the sea. Lots of tower blocks & gated community houses some of which are beachside with lots of shark nets. Walked through Atlantis Resort which was full of tourists. Wanting to avoid the previous night’s experience, we stopped of at the Mall of Emirates for dinner. We chose an Asian restaurant which turned out to be Michelin starred and was excellent. It occurred to us after we had hoovered the meal we should have taken a photo. We took a photo of the empty plates instead!

The next morning being the day of our departure we went to breakfast as usual, and received a very public thank you card and slice of chocolate cake with the words “thank you for staying with us” written in chocolate. Neither of had phones to take a photo but first time we’ve had that for just staying a couple of nights. Feeling a bit guilty we didn’t book to stay there on the way back.
